To be honest, I've had this process blog before starting design foundations, so writing a documentation manifesto after having already documented before feels a little backwards. I still want to improve upon my documentation, so these are my intentions for the future of documentation (post-Image).
When I was documenting for Image, I always felt a bit of pressure from myself to make the process look nice. For future documentation, I'm going to try to get out of my own head and stop worrying about how the process looks, and rather record how the process actually works. I want to be able to document thoroughly, and not every part of my process is nice and neat, a lot of it is really messy, but it doesn't make it any less part of the process. Moving forwards, I am trying to document the process organically and make sure that my documentation shows all of the thought and work I put in to each project. It doesn't need to be pretty, because that's what my portfolio is for.
Overall, my goals for future documentation are pretty straightforward. I want to include more of my sketches and personal notes, and also keep those organized so they can be documented. I also want to make sure I am taking pictures of every step of the process, including versions that fail. I want to make sure that I am being thorough and explicit in my process enough that someone could recreate the project and know every detail.
I added this picture because I wanted my post to have a nice cover. Just because the process is messy, doesn't mean my blog has to look boring :)
