This challenge was to create a movie poster that was 90% negative space, while still conveying the feeling and genre of the movie.
FACED
A thriller following a group individuals who uncovered a secret government conspiracy to take advantage of facial recognition software to track its constituents.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
With this movie plot, I definitely wanted to add at least one face to the poster. I worked around with concepts of multiple faces, but felt like I couldn't fully meet the negative space requirement while also fully conveying to emotion of the movie. I decided to use a single face because I felt like it gave me more room to add emotions to that face, while still using mostly negative space.
Next, for a thriller genre, I wanted a big, bold font because I had chosen a simple title. Big fonts take up a lot of forward space, so instead I made the letter out of negative space by adding the contrasts ad positive space, and working it in to the face design so the poster is cohesive.
