To really prototype this project, I need a few more supplies than I am currently able to access due to the pandemic. For now, I hav planned out how I would prototype this project with sketches and digital tools. I used Lumen, a software that digitally replicates analog synthesis, to show what my outputs would look like.
First, I would want to be able to test an electric signal on a CRT TV. I would setup the connection to the TV as shown below.
To make sure I can actually connect an electric signal to the TV, I would start with a single channel, Red. I would run a voltage through the red component input and see what output that creates. Then, I would add a potentiometer to control and vary that voltage and alter the signal. If this works, it should look something like the Lumen output shown below.
Then, I would do the same method of connection for the green and blue components, and combine them so I end up with a white signal instead of a single color.
Once I can get the basic colors working, I can move on to other component signals, and then work to connect an actual video feed. I sketched a system diagram of what my preliminary setup would look like. This also represents a simplified version of what I hope the final project will look like.
